7'scarlet is a decent otome game, and one I have both love and hate in equal measures. Its story manages to bring out a tinge of suspense, but not to the point of being good, especially as many of its plot points do not conclude properly. The romance is also lackluster at times, but credit where credit's due, this game's backgrounds are some of the best I've ever seen in an otome game.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a graphically beautiful game, but despite its glowing potential, it does little to innovate within the RPG genre. The lack of navigation tools makes exploring its world incredibly frustrating, and the story only starts to get interesting near the very end.

Blue Prince is a game that you can easily get yourself engrossed with. What appeared to be a simple game turned out to be one full of surprises around the corner, making it a must-play game for puzzle and roguelike fans alike.

Atelier Yumia is a great starting point if you've never played an Atelier game before. There's this constant feeling of discovery as you go through each and every spot marked on the map. It does have some rough spots, but Gust is on the right path if their idea is to make future titles in this open world format.

After Genso Manège, I thought PQube had finally put in more effort, but we unfortunately got our first faux pas of 2025. If you intend to get Him, the Smile & bloom, it's more recommended to wait until the publisher's patch is available, as the game's story may be short but has great potential.

Warriors: Abyss is Omega Force's attempt at breaking into the rougelite genre. There is some fun to be had, but ultimately, the game lacks potential in a lot of cases. With poor boss battles and limited gameplay features, you're better off spending your time elsewhere unless you are a die-hard fan of Warriors.

8 / 10.0 - Genso Manège
Jan 26, 2025

I can safely say that Genso Manège is a great otome game. Despite its font issues and some slight translation issues, they are minor, especially when compared to the other problems that I've seen with PQube's offerings from last year. The story and character design is also great.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero is a good sequel to a beloved series that introduces a lot of good ideas. Still, it's a game that falls flat in its storytelling, going a bit too over the top, resulting in something that is hard to get engaged with.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a great time, acting as an excellent entry point for newcomers and a treat for series verterans as well. There's an interesting story told across five meaty chapters, with plenty of content to see and discover. If you've yet to experience a non-spinoff in the series, Origins is the perfect place to start.

Fairy Tail 2 is a compelling action RPG that provides fans with the super-anticipated Alvarez arc. However, its efforts to make itself as accessible end up missing the landing, resulting in a rather unpolished experience that makes it hard to justify the cost.

Having the perfect team doesn't necessarily mean they can put out a perfect game. Now free from its Apple Arcade mobile jail, Fantasian Neo Dimension is now out there for everyone to play with its pros and cons for everyone to see.

Steam Prison: Beyond the Steam is a decent fandisk, and it offers quite a bit of content for those who enjoyed the original game. However, if you're looking for romance, you'll be sorely disappointed. Even though the game adds three routes, you can only describe them as "well, they're technically new."

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake brings the first of the Erdrick trilogy to a modern audience, and it manages to do so with beautiful graphics and various nice quality-of-life improvements that make the ageless RPG yet again a must-play for newbies or even veterans to the Dragon Quest franchise.

Monospaced Lovers is a game with potential, but has some pain points, such as solutions to puzzles being rather obtuse, and some confusing game design decisions that may or may not worsen the experience, depending on the targeted audience.

The Jackbox Survey Scramble is without a doubt one of the most ambitious projects from Jackbox Games that I've played, and it manages to be very fun.

The Foxy's Way Home is a game that definitely does what it says on the box, but only that. It's more of a bite-sized game that you can punch through in less than an hour, and offers surprisingly little for its high sticker price of $15,99. If you're into the market for a simple game that doesn't take much time to clear, perhaps it's better to just...look for something else.

I am honestly speechless on how BAD I★CHU: Chibi Edition is. Were I to call this the definitive way to experience the series, I would think that I have gone crazy, and my friends would also say the same. I don't know who to throw the blame at for this subpar work, but one thing is certain: You're much better off spending your hard-earned money on something else. Trust me.

6 / 10 - REYNATIS
Oct 3, 2024

REYNATIS is a very ambitious game, with big names like Yoko Shimomura and Kazushige Nojima forming a real dream team. So you'd expect that to mean the game would be perfect, but unfortunately it seems to have been released before it had finished baking in the development oven.

Master Detective Archives: Rain Code Plus is just what Danganronpa fans have been waiting for for years. The game takes elements that seem familiar to those who are already fans of the Kodaka's franchise, but still adds many original elements. It's not perfect, of course, especially with its performance bottlenecks and some bugs that are probably the result of a lack of optimization. However, the expressive characters and dialogue are comical and incredible, and I'd say the best part is that the game is now available on multiple platforms, meaning there's no excuse not to play this game.

If I had to describe Celestia: Chain of Fate in just a few words it would have to be “what a shame”. When I first saw the teaser for this game, I hoped that Agate Games had created something good. But instead, Celestia is simply unable to stand out in any meaningful way. And honestly, I found it difficult to play this for more than 20 minutes.
